Good for him, but he lost the cup for France. If he can sleep with the fact that he won a single award over bringing the cup to France, sure why not... Best Player in FIFA. But people don't count second place in world cups. They don't mention how many times Pele, Maradona, and Beckenbauer lost the cup for their teams because they never did. It looks like either Zinedine Zidane or Andrea Pirlo.
However, my personal choice is Miro Klose; the guy is absolutely amazing, and he might have a chance if he does a stupendous job on Saturday. I believe in 1990, Schillaci won the award even though Italy lost in semifinals, so I still have hope!

for all he had done in this football i truly believe he deserve it... he is an inspiration for his team... for the people who love football. he play a great football.. we shouldn't blame him completely for his action. there'll be time when you cant control yourself especially when someone provoke you with something that completely cannot be accepted..

Actually, Sarah, the Church has and does own some banks and financial institutions.
Beneficial Financial comes to mind. Zions Bank comes to mind.
Ironstone? I'm not quite sure, but a golden ball wouldn't necessarily mean anything. The Church tends to "play down" its ownership of anything commercial, so I doubt it would put such a recognizable mark on its commercial buildings.

people are going on about how he is still a legend after headbutting materazzi. but hes a disgraceful role model to kids everywhere. i mean, what was said to him when he headbutted that danish player in the champions league. anyone who saw that has to agree it was disgusting. they guy was on the floor and zidane just lent back and headbutted him on the face. the guy was in so much pain.
then in the 1998 world cup he stamped on that saudi player. the player was lying on the floor when zidane thought it was appropriate to stamp on him.

That is exactly the point I've been trying to make! He is skilled with the ball, you can't take that away from him, but that's not reason enough to excuse him from that disgusting act of impulse. He's obviously done it before so it isn't as out of character as everyone is making it out to be. Excusing that behaviour is like saying "everytime someone hurts your feelings, its okay to stomp them or headbutt them." It really doesn't matter what Materazzi said to him or how offended he was... the main thing is that Zidane reacted like an idiot with no self-control and I bet he regrets it now.
As for the golden ball... I think it rightfully should have gone to Cannavaro.

That is exactly the point I've been trying to make! He is skilled with the ball, you can't take that away from him, but that's not reason enough to excuse him from that disgusting act of impulse. He's obviously done it before so it isn't as out of character as everyone is making it out to be. Excusing that behaviour is like saying "everytime someone hurts your feelings, its okay to stomp them or headbutt them." It really doesn't matter what Materazzi said to him or how offended he was... the main thing is that Zidane reacted like an idiot with no self-control and I bet he regrets it now.
As for the golden ball... I think it rightfully should have gone to Cannavaro.

The only game he really did great was the brazil-france, after that he's not seen anymore on the court, except for his freeshots, and the memorable head butt. Lets be fair, he's not deserving!!!! i prefer cannavaro or vieira. Maybe he did the head butt to have an unforgettable night.

Reply:I am Algerian myself, from the same town Zidane is originally from in Algeria, but I find it difficult accepting his behaviour in the World Cup Final. Nothing justifies his violent behaviour, whether it is racial, religious or other kind of verbal abuse. A good professional player must know how to manage their anger and react reponsibly even in the most stressful situations.
The Golden Ball award is not only about who plays best on the pitch. It is also about having good sportsmanship. Mazzaratti was probably abusive in his language with Zidane; howerver, this doesn't mean Zidane had to be violent to put him back in his place. the best reaction would have been to ignore it and not buy into provocative behaviour. Nothing justifies his violent behaviour, whether it is racial, religious or other kind of verbal abuse. The Golden Ball award is not only about who plays best on the pitch. It is also about having good sportsmanship. Mazzaratti was probably abusive in his language with Zidane; howerver, this doesn't mean Zidane had to be violent to put him back in his place. the best reaction would have been to ignore it and not buy into provocative behaviour. Unfornately Zidane's respect has gone down in the eyes of Algerian and French Kids who always considered him as their hero. Vive Zidane!! Vive Zizou, Vive l'Algerie, long live Algeria and France! but I don't think he is worthy of the Golden Ball award, though.

Guillermo Ochoa candidate for the Golden Ball what do u think?
Ochoa is a great goalie and some of his saves are just simply "WOW" but I think to get recognition he should move to a european club where the level of players is better and besides there are better goalies right now but in the future he could be up there with Buffon or Cech as he is only 21. Also Kaka or Messi or C. Ronaldo have a better chance of winning it this year as they have done more.
