No not at all. I can say no one except zidane (%26amp; may be klose) did't deserve it.

Even though Zidane is a universally thought of, and is still considered, the best player all round he failed to show it throughout this tournament. He was not around in the first few rounds and was only available to light up and wake up the French team during the Brazil game onwards.His head butting only making matters worse, I have to admit my heart sank when I saw what he did. Perhaps the incident only prove that he is human afterall

But Cannavaro..he was there throughout, he, along with Buffon cleared and denied many would-be beautiful goals (including that of Zidane's last attempt before he was sent off) and he was also never deterred in protect the goal from big names like Klose and Nedved. For consistency, coolness and all round sportsmanship (he rarely - if not, never - made a foul and if he ever did accidentally touched or hurt someone he made it a point to go over and made sure the guy is okay), Cannavaro should have won.

FIFA should have created a special award for Zidane if they so wish to honour one of football's amazingly gifted player.

I'm disappointed with fans words. I'm Italian and Juventus fan, and have spent my usual words to Zidane in this Y-answer. I called him every time as a GREAT player, and I perfectly remember Hamburger SV - Juventus 3-1, Champions League, 24 October 2000 (headbutt and red card...). To me he remains the same GREAT player I know. Zizou Zidane so definately does deserve the Golden Ball. He's a great footballer and he doesn't dive. The headbutt was unfortunate, but soooo deserved by that Italian scum bag - calling Zidane's mother a 'dirty terrorist whore' when she's seriously ill in hospital!

Sometimes, words are sharper than action. They can be much more harmful than action. If Zizou deserved a red card for the head butt then Materrazzi should be responsible for his nasty words too( no matter what he had said). If a footballer shouldn't heat butt his opponent, I dont think he is also right and allowed to attack his opponent by using any insulting words during the game. If the referee said Zizou asked for the red card by head butting his opponent then I would say that Materrazzi was asking for the head butt by insulting Zidane. Perhaps, he (Materrazzi) already knew clearly what will make Zidane crazy and set the trap for Zidane, who knows. - Zidane played terrible the first two games, and was invisible.

- He gets an accumulated red card and missed the next.

- He scores a free goal at the end of the game against Spain...When Spain was pressing to level the game.

- He finally has a good showing against Brazil.

- Then he back tracks against Portugal and almost disappears. But, oh wait he scores a PK...big deal.

- And, finally against Italy he does more running than anything else and finally decides he is too classy for the game and bows out with a red. That is after scoring another PK for a bullshit call...again big deal.

So, just to summarize. The man got two red cards. Played well in maybe 1.5 games of the tournament. And, scored 3 free goals. What is the big deal?? In this case Ronaldo was a better choice.

THis has become a joke when the best defender and captain of the world cup comes in second. A man that is barely 5'9 165lbs could stop forwards twice his size 4 every min of the tourni with class.

Reply:The voters, who are sports journalists, were thinking about Zidane as the sentimental favourite to win the Golden Boot award given that he came out of retirement to help the French barely qualify for the World Cup and that he led the French to the finals.

Zidane was a great player in his prime. However, he is just not the same player as he used to be. Unfortunately age catches up to us all. His game against Brazil was his one and only excellent game in this World Cup tournament. With respect to the other games, Zidane was either a non-factor or suspended.

Had Portugal gone to the finals, I suspect that many people would have voted for Figo as the sentimental favourite since he will be retiring as well and has yet to win a major championship with Portugal.

In my opinion, Zidane saved everything he had for that one game against Brazil. To beat Brazil is quite the feather in your cap. The French probably did not expect to advance as far as they did in the tournament, so they hoped to rely on Zidane to lead the way. Well, looks like that backfired on them BIG TIME!

My vote for the Golden Boot award would be for Cannavaro. He is an exemplary defender, a well respected leader, and a gentleman on and off the field. He may tackle hard, but he does tackle cleanly.

What Zidane done, was wrong. He is one of France's famous and most talented football players the world has every seen just like maradona is remembered for the had of god incident. Zidane will be remebered for the silly challenge in his last game, but lets not forget that both players are truly heros in the football world. People don't like to remember great things people have done, and can sometimes can get unoticed altogether. Why do ppl concentrate on the bad things. I would shake Zidanes hand if I saw him in Newcastle! I think everyone else would too!

I think the problem is that most people think that because the award is given by FIFA that its related to WC performance alone and forget that this award takes the entire years form and performance into consideration.

Every one is entitled to their opinions and these great players are only voicing theirs from their perspective, understanding and immense knowledge of the game. It doesn't mean in any capacity that they are being anti Italian or anti Cannavaro. It's purely their own thoughts based on what they have seen over the past year.

Congratulations to whomever wins, they will have deserved it. That includes Cannavaro. If he were not worthy he would not be in contention.

Ronaldo has the best shot at it because he is picking up from last year and actually doing better if you compare stats with 13 goals so far and is getting better. I think what Zidane did was wrong but not barbaric. He had a reason. He didn't kill Matarazzi or even injure him enough to leave the field. He gave him a headbutt. I think the punishment was right. While the headbutt was obviously foul play, Figo did the same against Holland and only got a yellow card- and he hit the other guy in the nose. basically, the Golden Ball is his due praise, the redcard was FIFA's disciplinary action against the behavior "contrary to the ethic of the sport" . Isn't that what the redcard exactly does, anyway?

They don't at first seem like they'd hold up anywhere near as well as vinyl balls, etc. do since they're so squishy, but I think that's the key to why they do.

Reply:A basket ball. I used to have a hound/retriever looking mutt that loved chasing balls when they would get kicked. He had a habit of puncturing balls with his teeth, too. A basket ball was the best toy for him and it never deflated. Any orange normal basket ball would do, but my late dog Elvis's basket ball was a Spalding.

Just play with him and the ball

He will learn as he gets older.

As long as you throw it one or two times and if he shows any intrest parise him for it.

He is a baby and will not learn to play fetch for a month or two at least.

Brings more flare. In a silver goal match there was a thriller that involved Germany actually. They were down 3-1 to the Brits, and Gerd Muller palyed with a broken foot, despite that tied the game 3-3 and eventually Germany became champions.

I like silver goal better. After someone scores a goal and especially if it is early in extra time you have almost 30 minutes more of a thriller left.

There's no arguing the man carried his team single handedly past brazil, but his role in the spanish game was HUGELY overblown.

There's no doubt in my mind that the true MVP of that tournament was Fabio Cannavaro and here's why:

1. He started the tournament in one of the toughest groups against a tough Ghanian team without his partner in the heart of the defence (Nesta) and held the team together under some pretty good pressure.

2. While the rest of the team looked stunned upon the US tying the game and De Rossi's expulsion he single handedly thwarted wave after wave of American attacks until the ref evened out the expulsions.

3. He anchored the Italian defence against a strangely superior Australian team and despite a vast difference in possession in favour of the Aussies, limited Buffon to one or two saves all match long. Again without Nesta.

4. See No. 3 but in context of the Germany Semi.

5. See No. 3 but in context of the final.

You wanna know how valuable how Cannavaro was to his team?

Ask Gianluigi Buffon. The man had to make about 2 saves a game and whose goal was impregnable during the run of play for 7 games, two of which went into extra time.

Ask Andrea Schevchenko who couldn't muster a single attack on Buffon's goal. Ukraine's chances were all off set peices.

Ask Thierry Henry who was given 1/8 of the net to shoot at on what appeared to be a clear break in the second half and then again when he was dispossed by a prone Cannavaro in the box late in the game.

Finally...Ask Mr. ZiZou. He'll tell you about the intensity of the matches, the competition, the trash talking, and they psychological warfare. And then he'll tell you about the requisite degree of mental toughness required to maintain your composure and professionalism so that you don't let down millions of fans who screamed, cried, and prayed for you.

My star child Golden Retriever named Amber-Mae is good in all three of those. We adopted her when she was 3mths old %26amp; she is now 16mths old. She's been OB trained immediately %26amp; now has reached to Intermediate level. She's still the youngest in her class since puppy class until now. She's also good in Agility %26amp; Flyball but she hasn't been working on those lately but she's very, very good in Musical Freestyle. She's performed three times already %26amp; she has won the trophy for 'The Most Intelligent Dog' %26amp; the overall prize of 'Miss K9 Malaysia 2007'.(We're from Malaysia by the way...) She also came out in the news papers %26amp; internet. We're now trying to work on a new dance routine to Shania Twain's song altho she has false pregnancy right now. She still has drive for her ball %26amp; that's good...!

So my question is, is there any other Goldens out there who is as talented as my Amber?

Compared to the Bad Boys, the Warriors and the Spurs are a high school team (in terms of toughness and physicality). They aren't really dirty teams, they just play tough and physical, like they did back in the 1980's. Reply:what do you call dirty? Warriors are playing sort of gung-ho, over-adrenalized. Full game trash talking, jersey %26amp; short pulls, etc. They sort of have that pick up game vibe going for them. Some folks call that 'dirty', others call it the nature of the game/competition.

Spurs have something unique going for them; they have gotten away with it and went under the radar, season after season. Ginobili aint no saint, Parker is no schoolboy either. Ad a Bowen in there, who makes it all more personal by playing in people's faces. Etc.

For the last couple of years the spurs have been called hard-nosed. If you watch the action away from the ball, you'll quickly realize San Antonio is a specialist in 'dirty' tactics when the refs are following the ball action (not the 8 others without the ball). So, if being hard-nosed, gritty, nasty and border-line uncalled for is what you consider 'dirty', the Spurs take the cake.

Personally I would see the Warriors as much more entertaining, harmless even. I am sure most opponents walk away after the game and shrug it off. Can't be said about most opponents who walk away after a game against Bowen %26amp; Ginobili.

What kind of reptiles do you have?
I have about 150 snakes, mostly boas and kingsnakes, but I have various species of pythons and many others, such as cornsnakes, milksnakes, ratsnakes, and more. I have a 5 1/2 foot Nile monitor, two young savannah monitors, two blue tongue skinks, a pair of Sulcata tortoises, a trio of Russian tortoises, several aquatic turtles outside, and 7 tarantulas. I breed most of the snakes.

And the only reason she let me get Ember was because by the time she is reaching her adult length I'll be going to college. Reply:I would stick my head into the shelters if you just want a playful dog but I do love the Golden Retriever breed though. I know of a breeder in Australia who might have a litter ready this year but unless if you live in Australia and are willing to part with a large sum of money for one of her dogs I would be checking out the local RSPCAS or shelters. Sorry i am not one for spending thousands to buy one of her puppies.

I really do wish that was the start of a joke - but sadly no!

I have alway been very sensible about my animals - chickens are chickens for a reason - if one did not give them charisma in fantasy they really do lack a certain charm! Don't get me wrong I do love the girls, but I suppose just never really BONDED! Which is just a well when I have a dinner party coming up!

This morning I am taking lovely gentle, slightly deranged Barley to the vet to be made less of a man-dog!

And I am feeling as though I am betraying my best friend! He is leaping all over me thinking that we are going down to the beach - in fact - where I am taking him - not even beach BALLS are allowed!

So - forgive me Barley but I have been warned by the farm down the road that the foxy little Labrador girl that they have is known to have no morals whatsoever - and a bundle of puppies really is the last thing I need!

My dog looked all over the place because he thought he might have put them down somewhere in the house or the car, He looked under the seats in the car, the last place he remembered placing them. He traipsed in all the rooms in case they fell off and he hadn't noticed. He finally resigned himself that they were "STOLEN" We called the local police report and tried to give a description for the "manhunt". To date, they not been able to apprehend the culprit. We are now filing an insurance claim. My dog would like to have "plastic surgery" to replace his pride and joy and sue the culprit for pain and suffering........

I have taken stalks from a silvery sage bush that blooms golden hard balls. I've tried just planting them in worked soil, but no luck. Any ideas?

How do I get a cutting from sage?
In late summer or early in fall, cut the stems from the latest growth or the upper part of the older stems into 3- to 4-inch sections, each containing a set of leaves or leaf buds near its upper end. Removing the larger leaves and allow only the buds and young leaves to remain on the upper third of the section. Place cuttings in water as soon as they are removed from the plant.

Dip in a growing solution containing either a rooting hormone powder or soak the cutting in water prepared from willow branches for several hours, then plant in clean sand. Shield from the hot afternoon sun. Bright light, but not direct sunlight, is ideal. Keep the cutting moist. You can put it into a shallow box with a glass over it.

OR

After applying hormone powder, you can stick cuttings in a flower pot of clean sand %26amp; put a clear, thin polyplastic bag up over the pot and cuttings, twist shut at the top and tie with a rubber band. A stick or clipped wire clothes hanger in the pot higher than the cuttings keeps the bag from collapsing down around the plant material. This will keep humidity constant inside the bag, while the cuttings are growing roots.

Roots should develop in about 2 weeks, and in 4 to 6 weeks the cuttings should be ready to be put into potting soil or set in coldframes or in other places where they can be protected during the winter. Early in spring the plants can be transplanted to a permanent location.

You cannot get the 'golden break' in 8 ball pool, it is only available in 9 ball pool. In 8 ball if you pot the black off the break then you lose the rack.

I have had my ears pierced for exactly 7 weeks, now. Today i just went back to Claire's and I bought 9 pairs of really pretty gem stud earrings for $9.50. I was wondering since the piercers tell you to "keep some type of stud earrings in your ears at all times for the first 6 months"

Right now i have the same golden stud ball earrings in that i got when i got my ears pierced. Tonight i am about to change my earrings into a pair of my new ones. But i am wondering since it says "At all times" does that mean i have to sleep in them tonight, too? And take a shower in them? Or how long can it be when i dont have any earrings in?

This is my first time every getting my ears pierced, so please dont think this is a stupid question, because i have never done any of this before.

Its a good bet to keep them in as long as they dont bother you. Make sure to clean them daily and sanitize them at least monthly. Since they are, lets face it, cheaper earrings expect to replace them when they get tarnished. After a year of having your ears pierced it wont be a big deal to take them out for longer periods of time.
Reply:you shouldn't take them off when you sleep i did it before and in the morning it was really hard for me to put them back on so you should wait a while until you sleep with them off i can sleep with them off now cuz i got mine done like when i was 7 now im like 12

Reply:yes you should keep the studs in for a few more months until the ears get used to having earrings in them. i try and piece my ears a few times but with allergys i am not able to wear them.

Reply:Yes, you are supposed to sleep and shower in them until your 6 months are over. If you take them out, don't leave them out longer than about a day, because the holes could possibly crust over and you would have to poke your earrings thru. that could be painful. So, i wouldn't advise taking them out at all, excepting to change earrings. good luck! :)

He shows no interest in fetch, which is odd..we play soccer (he's small enough that he can't get his mouth around the ball, so he nudges with his head and kicks it) He likes tugging too..but sometimes I get bored with these games, any other games you all like to play with your dogs?

Try playing "find it." Start by hiding a treat or two around the house. Make your dog sit in a room away from where you plan on hiding the treats. Begin with easy hiding places and then make them harder and harder as he gets the idea of the game. When you release him from his sit-stay, say "find it" so that he learns the name of the game. Eventually, if he likes the game, you can try hiding his favorite toy -- my dog responds to having her toys hid just the same as they were treats. You can also take this game outside and spread the hiding places around, giving your dog a good opportunity for exercise.

I have the Dyson Animal and I think the main difference is the special brush attatchment for picking up hair. I believe you could buy that attachment separately and it would work on your vacuum.

Scrabble - I love words and the strategy.

Backgammon - I like that even beginners can have some good luck and do well often enough to stay interested. And I like learning the strategy. I suppose that when I really master it, I will lose interest as the challenge will be gone.

Scattergories - I haven't gotten to play it often enough, my sister and brother-in-law own the game and I love playing with them and my daughter.

I DON'T care much for Monotony--err--Monopoly, unless I get talked into playing it with my kids and we can play the fasssst, short version.

He's definitely pass his prime. He had a great World Cup and he should just got the Golden Ball. The European and World Footballer of The Year awards should have go to the others. These awards should be judged on both the players club and country performance. Now he's at Real Madrid and he isn't living up to his name as a European and World Footballer Of The Year. He's playing rubbish now. So i feel that he's definitely overrated.

I find my dog whining sometimes. I know why she is whining when Im watching TV, its because Im not playing with her. I get that.

But I'll take her out and play fetch with her for a couple hours and then we will go in and she'll get a drink of water. she will bring a tennis ball over to me and I'll throw it up the stairs. She will run up the stairs and right when she grabs the ball in her mouth she'll let out a small whine. I took her to the vet for a once over and she is fine. I dont understand. Sometimes when I'll throw a stick in the woods in an easy place for her to find it she'll whine too.

Is she showing me dissatisfaction in my throwing abilities because the the oobject she is retrieving is too easy for her to get not providing a challenge?

You are lucky my service dog has what is known as the duck tollers howl when he is happy. The volume/ complexity goes up in direct relation to his joy. Google it, if you want a laugh.

I think that your pup is probably just expressing his joy in the retrieve. Alot of animals will whine just to talk or when they are happy. IF the dog is only doing this when there is nothing bad happening then just accept it. I don't think he is crying though.

Most Golden's love to retrieve anything they can get a grip on and the perfect time for sounds of joy are when they finally have whatever it is in their mouth.

Your pups teeth might be sore though. If there is plaque or other dental problems, I would suggest regular teeth brushing and big raw beef bones to chew or nylabones. Those treats that are supposed to clean teeth aren't worth it. You might need a professional cleaning to start. If he chews without pain then I doubt the teeth are causing pain, so again probably just joy.

Reply:Golden Retrievers are my favorite dogs. I've had three already and I haven't found anything wrong with them yet.

To have the best golden I would make sure that they're AKC registered. The AKC registered ones don't have problems that the mutts.

There are two different types of goldens; a golden golden, and a copper penny. A copper penny is more of a showy dog and I prefer them over a regular golden.

They need lots of love and attention. They also make great hunting dogs and are very quiet and kind. They are great with kids.

For a calmer golden I would get an adult puppies take lots of patience.

She might be homesick, lack of attention, or she might be sick. I would tell this to your local vet.

well, yeah, that sounds like an awful lot of money to pay for one david beckham. i mean, let’s face it, becks is 31 y.o., has played for 15, but when you watch him play you realize he's never gonna realize his full potential. Reply:never heard of Golden Balls, is it a show in the UK?.....Used to watch Deal or No Deal a lot, now when I do watch tv and it is on, I wait till it gets down to the big numbers and then watch....it takes so long to get to that point, and I get bored....but when it is big numbers and I find myself yelling at the tv, "take the money", that's when the show gets good....
Reply:Goldenballs. Although the banter can get quite boring, the best part of the show is the "Split or Steal" part of it. I always hope that just one person steals all the money, and the other is a complete misery guts. :D
Reply:Deal or no Deal is brilliantly simple concept, but that's also it's weakness.

Because it's so simple the programme is limited to where it can go, there's no depth in the game, more luck than skill and that's why it's starting to run out of steam.

I prefer Deal or no Deal for now but Golden Balls has a lot more flexibility, more variation and will evolve over time to be much more interesting where Deal will end up on Sky living.

My husband watches 'Goldenballs' TV game show hosted by Jasper Carrott. I think this game show brings out all the worst qualities of human nature....greed, selfishness, betrayal, deceipt, anger, confrontation..does anybody else feel the same way?

I can understand why they lie during the game, but today after 'stealing' £61,000 the 'lady' who stole said something along the line, "I'm sorry, I'm very very sorry," If she was really that sorry, all she had to do was share her winnings with the runner up. Why didn't she say the truth, "I am glad to have won all the money." ?

If I was forced to take part in the game, and got to the final, I would tell the other person I was going to steal, and share the winnings with them. I would steal, and if they never stole as well, I would share the money with them.

Why can't lots of people who play Golden Balls, tell the truth?
See one main problem at some point all the contestants lie and once they have done it once everyone thinks I do not trust you. The number of times I have seen one steal from the other but £61.000 that would be a right kick in the bollocks unless you went home with it.

I love Golden Balls, and I was shocked the other night, when two woman won between them £84,000 and they both "split" it was brilliant, the best one I have seen, although saying that if I was on the show, I wouldn't trust anyone to split, so I would defo steal.

I think it is fab and wonder how long it will take beore it hits the pubs on bandits liek deal or no deal.

If I was on it I woudl deffo steal, its the only way really to get any money in my opinion so for me its al or nothing.

bet in a few months they wont be taking on new contestants as the list will be long enough to last them 5 yrs or so just like deal or no deal

My yard, car, driveway and deck are covered in a gold colored cocoon that seems to hang on the bottom of the leaves of my Live Oak Trees. They are everywhere, like little cotton balls and there seems to be no end in sight for their presence in my yard, under the hood of my car, inside the house, etc... What are they? I have never seen this before in 35 years of living in New Orleans. Does it have anything to do with global warming?

Not sure if it has anything to do with global warming, unless that's changing the environment where you live so that pests have a greater chance of survival. Without seeing the items it's hard to guess - take some (in a plastic baggie) to your local Master Gardener or Botanic Garden place (you can find them on the web) and they should be able to ID it for you.

Look at our results since he was dropped.

At least he provided decent ball to Rooney and whoever is playing up front.

Dropping Lampard was correct as the mid field has a better balance without him and Gerrard is a far better player and more likely to score .

Reply:I think it would have been a nice and respectable way for him to end his career, he comes off as such a sell out now... but I have debated this and this is what i came up with...

We all know he is past his prime, he has some nice plays but being ousted off the National Team and being bench most of the year in Real Madrid says pretty much both teams don't need him to win and frankly don't want him. He has had injury's to both his knees in one year, honestly how well is he holding up physically?

I never knew this but he talked about how he had death threats for three years in England and he was afraid for his life.. so perhaps for his own safety he ought to stay away from that country since some looney bins there seriously want to kill him.

By playing in the States he is stepping down a level in soccer and making more money going to a lower skilled league. Perhaps it won't be as hard on his body? Honestly finishing his career making a skyrocketing amount of money to basically play in a "AHL" type league when you have been playing in the NHL for years taking a beating is pretty smart. He will be better then most players, he will regain his glory and go out like a God... and this also sets him up nicely for becoming a Hollywood star... or whatever his plans are after soccer, I am sure it will be something that will continue to splash him and Vicky all over the tabloid rags for many years to come...
