How can I teach my golden retriever puppy to retrieve a ball?

I'd like to get my 9 week old puppy started on retrieving. How can I do this? What's a good way to get him started?

How can I teach my golden retriever puppy to retrieve a ball?
He is only a baby.

Just play with him and the ball

He will learn as he gets older.

As long as you throw it one or two times and if he shows any intrest parise him for it.

He is a baby and will not learn to play fetch for a month or two at least.

Keep working on it but be patient.
Reply:Oh my you are me trying to figure out why she goes after it then either takes somewhere else or chases after it and does not get it . well at least she retreives slippers and only if you are lucky maybe he will retrieve a frizbe
Reply:He will probably do it all on his own. It should be instinctive. If not throw the ball and he should chase it because most dogs cannot pass up a flying ball, when he gets the ball call him back. If he comes with the ball reward him with a treat. Eventually eliminate the treats.
Reply:Wait a few more months, you knucklehead. Then, roll it before him.
Reply:just throw the ball and say go get it. if your dog doesn't then walk him over to the ball and hand it to him. if he takes it make him feel good about it. pretty soon he or she will get it.
Reply:Patience is key. It may take a while for your dog to learn. Try obedience classes in your community or teach him by yourself. You might want to ask someone else to help you, too. Reward your dog for the good he does. Animals that act do it for treats. Remember: patience, praise, and reward. Good Luck!
Reply:Should not have to !!!!!!!!!
Reply:through the ball walk over to it put it in his mouth walk away tell him to come and give him a treat it worked on my two pugs
