Reply:If you understand the golden ball award, then you know that it is given for the most valuable player of the entire tournament. If you watched all of France's matches, then there should be no doubt in your mind that France would not have made it to the Finals without Zidane. And the fact that France lost after he was ejected just further proves that point since they needed him in the game to finish it off. He was the most important player of the World Cup overall and one bad decision should not trump that, especially since this is not a sportsmanship award.
Reply:all of us who thought this sport, world cup was respectable. if anything he should have gotten a head bump. I went for Italy but did recognize him as a top player until his despicable, unsportsmanlike, temper tantrum. as a captain he should have been fined heavily not praised. very disappointed and very glad Italy kicked France's booty.
