Zidane deserved Golden Ball award, says Materazzi?
~Why does this surprise you? Materazzi has acknowledged, before and after this World Cup, that Zidane was an outstanding player. At two different times, he has referred to Zidane as his "hero."

Soccer is not a "tea cup" sport. They play rough and they play to win. The Mate may idolize Zidane off the field, but on the field, it's dog eat dog.
Reply:I'm not sure he was trying to get the attention "off" of him but rather on him by trying to convince people he's capable of something he's not which is sincerity. I'm sure Zidane or Zidan's family appreciate his endorsement - Not! I would have much rather he showed the courage to admit what it was he said. As for thinking that Zidane's aggresive act warranting criminal charges, I would submit that you watch the following. If criminal charges were filed for every aggressive act perpetuated on the pitch Materazzi wouldn't have been on the team or in the games.

Reply:Whatever good football he played was put in the shade by the one mad moment of violence. He should not have got it in the first place. Why has he not been charged with the criminal offence. There were enough witnesses!
Reply:ENOUGH ALREADYYYYYYYY!!!!!
Reply:hes just saying htat so he doesnt get in trouble,

if someone headbutted u and then won an award would u be happy?

hes just trying to get the attention off of him
Reply:yed
Reply:Yes, of course he deserved it!
Reply:without zidane, truthfully, france wouldn't have even gotten into the final. He helped them beat spain in the quarters, brazil in the semis and if he coulda controlled his temper, he would've probably helped them win the cup. France could not have won against Brazil without Zidane... he deserved it. He is better than the whole of the number 1 team in my opinion.
Reply:Yes, Materazzi did say that Zidane deserved the award because he was the best on the pitch.

He won it for what he did on the pitch," Materazzi said in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport published Thursday. "He was the best."

Materazzi was the one that was headbutted, if he feels that Zidane should keep the golden ball, I dont see who can disagree.
Reply:that's just his sloppy attempt at damage control. plus he's obviously insincere. first he said zidane is super arrogant then he turns around and say he admires him and now this? somebody should advise him to stop making any further comments on the incident. he's under investigation for it and if he continues contradicting himself it would be hard to untangle his story later on. if he wants to court sympathy for his cause, he should just apologize for saying those insults and present whatever defense he has before fifa. less talk, less mistake.
