Good games to play with my golden retriever?

He shows no interest in fetch, which is odd..we play soccer (he's small enough that he can't get his mouth around the ball, so he nudges with his head and kicks it) He likes tugging too..but sometimes I get bored with these games, any other games you all like to play with your dogs?

Try playing "find it." Start by hiding a treat or two around the house. Make your dog sit in a room away from where you plan on hiding the treats. Begin with easy hiding places and then make them harder and harder as he gets the idea of the game. When you release him from his sit-stay, say "find it" so that he learns the name of the game. Eventually, if he likes the game, you can try hiding his favorite toy -- my dog responds to having her toys hid just the same as they were treats. You can also take this game outside and spread the hiding places around, giving your dog a good opportunity for exercise.
Reply:I have a black labrador reteiever. He loves running after objects such as sticks, balls ,Frisbees, etc. To retrive things and return them is natural for these dogs .It's A good method of excercise for them.
Reply:Try Hide n' Seek
Reply:Golden Retrievers are pretty big dogs and also known to like water. Take him to the beach and see if he likes that. Hold a short rope with knots on the end and see if he likes to play tug of war. And then of course if you're not afraid to play rough (my sister has one and this dog loves to wrestle), he might enjoy it. He may just need to run off some energy, try jogging with him.
Reply:play tag with him if he knows how i once had a dog who could play tag its great for the dog and you. just teach him to run from you when you try to get him by saying im going to get you but say it in a play voice then he will know to move away from you but when you tag him say come and get me and he should run for you ( your dog needs good training to do this it all so teaches the command come)
Reply:I LOVE to play Hide and Seek with my Yorkie! I put her in a different room and tell her to stay, hide somwhere else in the house, and call her. It's so cute when she looks all over and her tail wags ike crazy when she finds me =). However she's too smart for me and now I've used up all the hiding spaces she knows where to look!
